Last night went well for Karen from a queasy/chilly/achy perspective, because she didn’t have any of that, but she had a short period where her heart rate went up a bit. It was short lived, and of little concern in itself. The rest of the night we both slept soundly. Or, at least as soundly…
Month: August 2017
Wednesday 8-30 Update
Karen felt better by morning, and has improved through the day. Her first appointment of the day was with a hematologist. Karen was diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome many years ago, and this diagnosis has been keeping her out of some treatment options. For due diligence, her oncologist would like this diagnosis confirmed. After that…
Tuesday 8-29 Update
Today is a bit more rocky. We waited too long to take the Advil, and then couldn’t keep it down once she took some. So, she’s back to experiencing the chills and fever. At least we know that the Advil is the med that made the biggest difference for the fever and chills. There was…

Karen and I are back up at the Cleveland Clinic for her second cycle of immunotherapy. I’ll post updates here throughout the week. This is the Monday update, and I’ll try to add a new post each day, even if I have little to report. Occasionally, I’ll revise a post throughout the day, so if…
Back In Town
We’re back! Karen is back home, and getting some much needed relaxation. By the time we’re settled back in we’ll have to leave again. Karen is tired from the trip, but not feeling as bad as she did on chemo. We’ll give it a few days to see how it progresses and report back. For…
The Weekend is Ours!
Friday’s treatment went much better. She dosed with Advil and Tylenol in advance, and only brief chills and only slight fever. Now, we’re experiencing Cleveland. First stop Greek!
Round 1 Clinical Trial Updates – Saturday
8AM Saturday… The treatment last night went much better. We adjusted the timing of the Tylenol and Advil to make sure she was properly dosed prior to the start of the symptoms, and the chills were very minor and brief. Hooray! We actually stayed up late to catch up on America’s Got Talent, and she was…
Round 1 Clinical Trial Updates – Friday

Morning update… Karen is sleeping soundly, having recovered from another evening of the immunotherapy drug trial. She had another bout with the chills, but it lasted…
Round 1 Clinical Trial Updates – Thursday
I’ll post updates on this blog post if I have anything new to report throughout the day, so check this again for new content if you re-visit the blog. Morning update… Karen says “I’m alive so far… Not dead yet!” What a wonderful quote to share! At least she said it with a chuckle. She’s…
Round 1 Clinical Trial Updates – Wednesday
