I’m not up to the task of writing new posts right now, but I’d like to write some at some point. I’m not sure what I’m going to share yet, but this isn’t the end for the blog. Right now every story seems very personal. Give me a few weeks to get myself put together…

Wildflowers For Karen
Dear friends, I failed to mention whether flowers are okay, and a couple people asked. Actually, wildflowers are the theme, so flowers are welcome. One of Karen’s last wishes was to see her wildflowers come up again. They have just started coming up, so Karen was able to admire the first ones of the season….
Funeral and Reception
Dear friends, Karen’s service will be this coming Thursday the 24th at Roberts Funeral Home 509 Washington Ave, Washington Courthouse, OH 43160 https://goo.gl/maps/euB12KdiPr52 https://www.robertsfh.net/ Karen loved the stone work on the building that makes it look a little like a castle, and it’s owned by a local paramedic. She didn’t know the owner was a…
Karen’s Passing
Dear friends, Karen passed away tonight after an almost two year struggle with cancer. She fought like hell the whole time, and even while fighting this terrible sickness, she inspired people to make the world a better place. She did this by sharing just the right story with somebody who needed a pick-me-up, or inspiring…
A Few Thoughts
Karen is still going through the process of passing away, but I won’t be speaking about that intensely personal process in the blog. Hospice is watching the both of us to make sure we have the support needed. I’ve been in regular contact with our hospice social worker and pastor, and Karen’s nurse is here…
Tuesday Update 5/15
It’s been a few days since my last blog post. Karen’s health started declining pretty rapidly Sunday. When hospice and I were certain that this was the end I wanted to reach out to family, both near and far, before posting on the blog about it. Thanks for your understanding. I’m sorry for the people…
An Adventurous Day
The hospice team helped us change Karen’s meds around a little yesterday, and it improved things a little for her. She started a new med for her queasiness, and it’s not making her quite as tired. She’s still taking the morphine regularly for her breathing, but this has reduced the amount of oxy she’s taking….
Friday End of the Week Update
The weekend is coming up, and Karen wants to spend it with me without any visits or calls, even from hospice. She’s having more trouble breathing and although the morphine helps a lot with that, she’s needing more of it, and more often. The morphine really is helping quite a lot. The bad part is…
Mid Week Update 5/9
The morphine has been helping Karen quite a bit with breathing, and I think lowering her overall pain. She’s not taken any oxy for the last day, and earlier she rated her pain at two out of ten. She ate a little fruit yesterday and this morning. She quite enjoys the watermelon. Her tastes have…
Monday Change-ups
Karen’s pain has subsided a bit over the last couple days. She’s only taken oxy a couple times today. She’s still in pain but less than before. It’s good that she’s found a more manageable pain level, but we’re both a bit worried about her increasing troubles with breathing. As her kidney troubles progress this…
