A Few Thoughts

Posted on May 17, 2018May 18, 2018 by Charlie

Karen is still going through the process of passing away, but I won’t be speaking about that intensely personal process in the blog. Hospice is watching the both of us to make sure we have the support needed. I’ve been in regular contact with our hospice social worker and pastor, and Karen’s nurse is here for a visit every day. All are willing to be here at a moment’s notice.

When the time comes we’ll have a viewing and service in Washington Courthouse, Ohio. It won’t be at a big city fancy place, but it’s a place that suited us well. The outside looks a little like a castle, and has lots of wonderful stonework. Karen wants to be cremated, so there will not be a graveside service. The viewing and service will be scheduled together.

I’d also like to have an after service reception at our house. I’m not quite ready to commit to that, because I don’t know how I’ll feel, but I’d like to do it.

Thank you Charlie for the update. I know just taking time tjgather your thoughts during this time takes effort and I know that I appreciate it.

Last night I was thinking of you both and listened to Tom Petty’s ‘Wildflowers’ and it made me think of Karen’s sweet smiling face and the lyrics of that song fit her so perfectly. Continuing to pray and think of you both.

Charlie, Karen can still hear you. Please tell her from me that it was God who gave her life – her breathe is God’s very life in her. Please tell her. It’s important that she knows.

Sending you both love and peace. Grateful for your field of wildflowers that will grow to reflect the joy and beauty Karen brings to everyone who loves her.
