An Easier Friday

Posted on May 4, 2018 by Charlie

Hospice changed up some of Karen’s meds, and took her completely off others. They increased the amount of oxy she can take, and have another med coming tomorrow that will work with the oxy to reduce her pain further. Altogether we seem to have a better plan for pain management, which is a relief. It was the strongest reason to switch to hospice.

She’s still been queasy, especially when taking the goop that helps her ammonia level. She tossed her cookies a couple times today, and that’s unfortunate, since she’s been eating so little. There are new meds arriving tomorrow that might help with that too.

Today she was awake for a lot more of the day. We caught up on some TV shows we’ve missed over the last couple weeks.

This weekend I’ll be removing the box springs from our bed so that it’s a little lower. She’s able to get out of bed okay, but needs a lot of help getting in bed. Lowering it should make that part easier. We’ll continue to consider a hospital bed, but Karen sleeps better by my side, and she doesn’t want to give that up unless she has to. We’ve asked what type of options are available, such as double hospital bed. Not sure what we’ll find.

I bet it was nice to catch up on shows. Hope you had a nice day yesterday and are able to open the windows and hear the birds. Not sure about your house but they have been a noisy bunch this year at ours. Sending love!
