Chemo for Christmas

Posted on December 22, 2016December 22, 2016 by Charlie

Karen’s chemo has started back up after a few weeks off while healing from an infection. It isn’t great timing to have the first week of chemo right before Christmas, but we already put it off last week so we could make the MCR Medical annual holiday party, and with the chemo actually working to reduce the tumors, it seemed like a poor decision to wait much longer to start back up.

This first week of chemo is when they give her the strongest combination of medications, and it is an especially hard-hitter with a longer recovery time for her. She’s been sleeping for much of the last two days, but fortunately, we have the medications needed to keep her from being violently ill like she was when she first started chemo. Exhaustion is probably better than being extremely ill (and exhausted), but still frustrating. We’re hoping she’s up and active around the house by the weekend.

Christmas is approaching fast, and our hope is that she feels up to some time with family.

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all our friends!

This round hit even harder than expected. I think it is because of the lack of chemo for a few weeks. It has been worse than prior rounds and it’s still a struggle to do anything four days after chemo. Merry Christmas.
