In Hospital Recovery

I’ll post recovery updates here…

8:00PM we’re home! I’ll update tomorrow. For now, it’s rest in our own bed. <3

Monday update. Going home! Karen has done well and they’re sending us home. I’ll update in a day or so with more details about the surgery, and what’s to come. 

5:45PM Easter Sunday. Solid food! Chicken, green beans, and rice with diced peaches for a treat. Recovery is going very well. Karen is being very diligent with her sitting up and walks. Her surgeon was in earlier, even though he’s not on duty, or on call. He reaffirmed that he’s going to work on options for her. 

Hmm, lost an update… Easter Sunday has been a good recovery day. Not exactly rising from the dead, but making good progress along the path out of the hospital. Soft foods coming for dinner, and IVs are already out. It’s possible we’ll be on the road tomorrow, but Tuesday is more likely.

2:15 Everything still going well with surgery recovery.  Afternoon nap is in progress. Doc happy with her progress. He’s not on duty today, but stopped by earlier to see Karen, and promises the same for tomorrow. 

11:00 Karen is up out if bed and sitting in a chair already. She’s in pain but using the morphine sparingly. Her post surgery recovery seems on track.

7:15AM Karen is awake and doing well. She came out of anastesia nicely and her pain is managed pretty well for now using a combination of oral and IV meds. She seems like she’s doing as well or better than she did the last surgery, which is great.
