Mr. Whiskers

With great sadness I have to share that Mr. Whiskers has passed away. Yesterday he was running around being the normal Mr. Whiskers, and played our chasing game with his morning treats without any indication there was anything wrong, but a couple hours later he was crying and throwing up.

We ended up at MedVet in Hilliard, but as hard as they tried, they couldn’t save him, and he passed away last night around 11 o’clock. We’re not sure what caused it even now, but tests indicated he had a bad infection somewhere in his body, and that he was fighting septic shock. Since he didn’t show any symptoms until late, they think he may have had abscess that ruptured. Various tests ruled out him having ingested anything, or any of the feline disorders that fit the symptoms.

When looking for a good picture of MW to share, it was hard to choose. If I have 1000 pics on my phone, 999 are of our furry friends. Most of the moments in life that we want to capture seem to center around moments we shared with them. Mister always seemed to be there for both of us when we needed some comfort. So, we both looked to him for support regularly.

And on Saturday mornings, when Karen was still sleeping, he was quite often in my lap. He’s helped me write most of the blog posts. Or more honestly, he was often running interference.

Mister Whiskers was a great friend, and helped me watch over Karen. He was such a gentle spirit and loving friend to both of us. He will be sorely missed.

I’m sorry that I don’t have any news to share about Karen’s treatment at this time. We are still waiting on the results from recent tests. I’ll update as soon as we learn something on that front.
