Our Adventures In China

Posted on December 8, 2018December 8, 2018 by Charlie

Karen and I traveled to China shortly before we were married and I found some of those pics recently. There are a few that probably haven’t been seen by others, so I thought I’d share.

Here’s one that is sure to be an instant favorite. We met these fellows along the walk up to the Great Wall of China.

Karen wanted to see the Great Wall, but not at one of the common touristy spots. She did a lot of research (of course) and chose a spot a few hours outside of Beijing. I hired a car to take us out for the day and we had quite a good time.

At the base of the mountain there is a town with a lot of street vendors. We purchased a variety of wares here, including our chopsticks and a couple of wood wall hangings we have at the house.

Of course, note that her owl bag that made the trip with us.

The trek up the mountain (big hill?) was pretty tiring, but worth the hike.

My memory isn’t the best, but I’m pretty sure she’s using my old Canon camera. I don’t have those pics on my computer but will dig them out some day.

She really liked that camera. When we first started dating she shared that she loved photography and missed having a camera. I had a Canon with a couple odds and ends, borrowed a lens from my mom (I think), and put together a nice camera bag for her. Later my parents bought a nice digital camera for her as a wedding present.

During our trip to china we also visited a variety of areas. The picture below was from our trip to Wuxi. That was a nice part of the trip. It was business related, but the lady we met there was formerly an English teacher. We had many great conversations, including one where she shared that the Chinese don’t normally eat dogs, as “they are useful.” Apparently, cats were fair game.

Karen and I spent the last couple days of our trip in Hong Kong.

We took a hike around the peaks of one of the mountain peaks. I wish I could remember more details, but we circled the peak and got to see all of  Hong Kong. It was a nice hike, and some parts were in better repair than others.

Those are all the pics for now.
