Greetings.
Each year I host a gathering at my house in Karen’s honor. It’s not really a birthday party, having no cake or candles, not quite a reunion, since some of us already see each other regularly, but it’s an ad hoc (for a specific purpose) gathering of an eclectic bunch of people who had Karen as a focal point.
Karen’s birthday was always near Father’s Day, and the proximity to her birthday (June 20) and scheduling conflicts on my part caused the gathering to be on the same weekend as Father’s Day. But this year, we’re scheduling it well in advance, and choosing the weekend after her birthday, the weekend after Father’s Day.
