I haven’t posted to Karen’s blog in a while, but that doesn’t mean I’m not thinking of her, and it doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to say on her blog. I should be posting more often, but I’ve been struggling with the challenges of navigating forward. I still haven’t really come to terms with it all.
As time moves forward, I’d like to share more about Karen, and would really like for there to be a way for others to share more with me, and the rest of the world. I’d be glad to receive these through blog comments or emails.
When Karen and I met, we both had troubled souls. In many ways, both of us hit a giant reset button at the start of our relationship. We spoke about key moments of our past, but most often only if it related to people still in our lives. So, I think there are a lot more tales to be told than I already know. Do you have any?
Although I’ve not posted in several months, there isn’t a single day where she’s not first in my thoughts. She lives on through all the people that knew her, but even people who have never met her have been inspired by her.
Recently, our business was honored on the “Columbus Fast 50” list for the fourth consecutive year. This list honors the fastest growing companies in the area. Leading up to the award ceremony they asked us to summarize our company culture in three words, and our team offered “Karen Lynn Morrison” as our response.
Karen is still the heart and soul of our business, but also for many of us personally. She touched us in ways that is hard to describe to somebody that didn’t know her. She brought out the best in us. She helped us shine. She helped us achieve things that we would have never done on our own.
I miss her. We all miss her. I still live for her. I feel her influence every day, and I do my best to keep her memory alive. I try to do well by her. I try to be the person she wanted me to be.
If you ask yourself “What would Karen do?” when faced with a problem, then you’ll have a decent chance of coming out on top.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
♥️
Merry Christmas, Charlie. Shine like the star Karen is because she is always here in spirit.
Thanks for sharing, Charlie. I love that MCR used Karen’s name and spirit to embody the culture of a company she built and was so integral to. We think of her so often.
Karen’s sweet, kind and loving spirit was reflected in the ways she showed herself to others. Early in her young life she wanted to be a veterinarian and care for animals. She also volunteered as a “candy stripper” at the local hospital and enjoyed bring cards and flowers to the patients. When she became a Girl Scout she was awarded many merit badges for her work with others in the community and within the group. These are some of the gentle memories I have and am willing to share with you.
