An Adventurous Day

The hospice team helped us change Karen’s meds around a little yesterday, and it improved things a little for her. She started a new med for her queasiness, and it’s not making her quite as tired. She’s still taking the morphine regularly for her breathing, but this has reduced the amount of oxy she’s taking. She’ll be starting a new med for some of her anxiety today.

She didn’t really get out of bed much yesterday, but I had her on a little adventure today. It wasn’t really that she wanted to do anything as it was that she didn’t want to spend the whole day in bed.

We started our adventure with a trip outside to see some of her new landscaping. She’s seen the back side of the house from the inside, but hasn’t really seen the front. Here’s a pic that shows what the front walkway looks like now.

You can probably see some additional materials in the background. The landscapers are going to be back out next week to use them up for us. They wanted to make sure they brought in enough for whatever Karen wanted, and didn’t want to leave anything to chance. Thanks guys!

When we were out we also noticed two new types of flowers coming up in her wildflower field. The flowers are only sporadic in the field, but it’s looking like they might be filling in soon. I picked a sample of each an added them to one of the existing that we had. Here’s a pic.

For those of you new to the blog, when Karen was diagnosed with cancer I had about four acres or so of wildflowers planted in the front fields. It was one of her “some day” things. I later cleared out an array of trees near the house and then had this clearing planted too. I wanted to give her a mini field of wildflowers that she could see from the house. It takes a while for them to come in, so these are the first flowers coming up now. I’m really glad she can see those flowers coming in now.

Once back inside she rested a little and then took a trip to the great room and hung out on the couch while I grilled us up some burgers and whipped up some fries in the air fryer. Karen rounded that off with some ginger ale and then later some orange sherbet.

That’s about where we are now. Karen’s passed out in bed and sleeping pretty soundly.

We had a nice time today on our little adventures.
