Karen’s energy is back up this week and we’ve been able to do a few things that we haven’t in a while. It’s a relief that the second week of being back on Chemo was easier than the first. This week it was only the Taxol, and though it’s no fun, it’s not like the first week that also has the Carboplatin. Karen’s hair started to grow back in during the pause in chemo, and we’re not sure if it will fall out again.
We went out to eat at Lomonico’s in Pickerington on New Year’s Eve. This is over an hour drive away, so you know it had to be special to us. We used to eat there when we lived in Reynoldsburg, and they had a special menu for the day. Karen had the Filet Mignon and I had the scallops. There are a lot of fancy descriptive details Lomonico’s includes on the menu that I forget. Just imagine the best possible way they could be prepared, and that was it. They were fantastic! It was a nice night out.
The biggest news of the day is that Karen decided she was ready for a computer at home. She’s not had one at home since January of 2014 when we evicted our business from our home (when we moved our business into its own warehouse). But the tablets aren’t really doing everything she needs anymore. My dad picked a computer up for us at Microcenter and we spent part of the day setting it up. The hardest part for Karen was picking the right Windows wallpaper image. She did find one she liked, but I’m guessing she’s still on the lookout. For now, it’s an owl!
Second only to that news is that we went shooting yesterday. I ordered a new pistol on New Year’s Eve and I think our discussion about that made her yearn to shoot. We were both a little rusty, but solid enough. We set up one of our steel hanging targets between a couple trees and shot her Berretta 92FS Inox (stainless steel) in the side yard and plinked a for a while. It was a lot of fun.
Happy New Year!
