Karen is in the second round of Alimpta, and it’s no better than the first round. This time she spent a week in the hospital with pneumonia. No fun at all.
Although the hospital saw that she had fluid in her lungs, I don’t know that she needed to spend a week in the hospital. But the docs at Mt Carmel East were weary of releasing her while she was still feverish, even admitting that the fever may be a chemo related fever. Karen has had a fever with every chemo infusion.
The Alimpta does not seem to be working, and a CT scan showed further progression in her abdomen, as well as some suspect masses in her chest. There is some fluid in her abdomen that is increasing a bit, and all this is putting more pressure on her insides. She’s been having more troubles breathing, and keeping food down. Smaller meals have helped, but she doesn’t have as much of an appetite.
We’re going up to Cleveland to see her doc tomorrow, and have an appointment at the Roswell Park center in New York on Friday.
Our prayers are with you both.
Always in my prayers & daily Mass. Be strong with the help of the Angels.
Been thinking and praying for you both daily. Xoxo
