I managed to get 8 hours of sleep last night. They weren’t all in a row, but I did get them, and feel a little more awake. I’ll use that opportunity to post an update and also miscellaneous details about her treatment.
We’ve had Karen up a couple times today, and have a system for most thing we need to do. Home health will have somebody out here from Occupational Therapy to help us figure out the rest. Amazon got us loaded up on the basics that we didn’t have, and I’ll be looking for a few more things when I get done with this post.
We reduced the medication she was on that was removing the ammonia from the blood, but are edging that back up. It causes a lot of side effects we didn’t want her to experience during the trip. So, those side effects will start back up.
Breakfast was an egg and serving of oatmeal, with apple juice and a shaved ice dessert. Not sure what’s on the menu for dinner, but we have an array of the foods she likes. She’ll probably continue with two meals a day with juice and snacks when she’s up to it. She seems to be drinking plenty of fluids right now.
We’re not supposed to drain the pressure in her abdomen unless she’s really having pain and discomfort from it. And then we are only supposed to drain a minimal amount. The pressure reduces the likelihood that the bleeding will start back up, and the fluid dehydrates her while it’s accumulating. Less accumulates when it hasn’t been drained.
I’ll post more tomorrow about what her day is like. I’m not sure I’ll check back here today, but if I do, I’ll update this post and add updates below.
WOW! Great news. Keeping you in mind & heart.
So glad to hear she is home and hopefully both of you will get the much needed rest. I would love to send a card and a little something but not sure where to send. If you could let me know that would be great. Continued prayers.
