This week was a bit better than last, but Karen is still getting tired rather easily. Her last round of blood tests show that her platelets are low, so her body didn’t hold up quite as well during the last round of chemo. She’s having more tests to day to see if the chemo needs adjusted, or maybe even postponed.
I’ve added pictures of Karen’s new dining room suite in the photo gallery, and I’ll add other pics when I can. She’s still trying to figure out how to arrange the furniture in the great room. We may need an end table to finish it off. No pics until it’s done!
Over the weekend we spent a little time outside, but Karen had a tough time and didn’t stay out long. She did get some time on the Kubota, but I spent a lot of time trimming some trees out front. I cut away quite a few honey locust trees and found three mulberry trees! They are still small, but two have berries. I recently told Karen that I wanted mulberry trees, and we were going to plant some down the road. I was really amazed that I found some already there, but hidden. They were being strangled by the locust trees and other surrounding plants, but I fixed that. I hope to see them flourish in the years to come!
It’s been a mixed week for us. We have had some enjoyable experiences, but we’re both concerned about how tired she’s getting. We did speak about this in detail with the doc, and will be adjusting things to try to alleviate this a bit. There isn’t much else significant to report on the medical front. We learned that one of the tumors isn’t looking as expected on the PET scan, so he plans to biopsy that, but everything else is moving forward that makes the doc satisfied in his approach.
Hi Karen and Charlie. Just wanted to let you know we have been thinking and praying for you both.
Hope the sunshine and warm weather brings some comfort this weekend.
