It was another week of low platelet counts, so they couldn’t administer the chemo again last week. Chemotherapy interferes with the body’s ability to create platelets, and Karen’s body wasn’t very happy with the new chemo medications. The doc is still hoping to lower the dosages to find the best level. Karen has a history of problems with her platelets because of her antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS), so it’s probably a bit harder for the doc to find the balance needed, especially when the medication used to treat her APS can cause low platelets as well.
Unfortunately, that means that the first treatment in the next cycle starts tomorrow, Karen’t birthday. Happy birthday! Nobody is particularly happy about that, but we’ll get through it. If there is anything new this week I’ll add a post.
Thanks for keeping us updated Charlie.
