Karen’s stay at the Clinic will be for at least another few days, even if all goes well. For the next few days I’ll be creating a blog post for the day, and will update that blog a couple times a day. That means that blog posts may change through the day. I did this in the past, and it kept me from swamping people with lots of separate posts.
Also, it’s difficult for me to provide any real information if I have to avoid sharing the icky stuff, so I’ll put the cards on the table when faced with that. Please read further understanding that.
If you are just learning that Karen is in the hospital I’d encourage you to read yesterday’s post. I’ll add updates below with the newest at the bottom.
11:15AM Update
Karen is resting and pain free much of the time. They are giving queasy meds through IV. She is still bleeding internally, but the hope is that it’s not as severe as it was.
More details…Karen could not drink enough of the nasty stuff for them to perform a colonoscopy when they intended. They were going to make her go through it all again this afternoon, but are concerned that she’s still bleeding into her GI tract. They have decided to perform the procedure this afternoon. If you aren’t aware, Karen has a drain in her abdomen to allow us to relieve some of the pressure in her belly. The cancer creates fluid buildup, and she’s also been losing a little blood into her belly, outside of the GI tract. They have decided not to drain the fluid for the short term because the pressure reduces the loss of further blood.
I’ll do another update tonight.
5:00PM Update
Unfortunately Karen was not able to follow through with the colonoscopy. She’ll need to re-start her prep and attempt again tomorrow. I don’t know that I’ll have more info tonight, but will try to post a status update. <3
Thank you Charlie for continuing to post updates. Sending love and prayers to you both right now.
Love you both and sending you strength.
